More Joel stuff: this time he’s written an article about the problems with designing interfaces with too many options. I tend to agree that in many cases, there are too many options available to users. On the other hand, as a power user I like having those options available. As long as you don’t force people to tweak their settings, and you put as much effort into making things right for the largest number of people in the first place, I don’t see anything wrong with allowing people who wish to investigate to tweak things to their heart’s content. Of course, you have to take into consideration that I enjoy programming in Perl.
