Strong opinions, weakly held

A list of Zope cons.

Jacob Weisberg at Slate writes harshly about Ralph Nader, stating that his goal is to get Bush elected so that things get bad enough that the Greens can get some real challenge. Does Nader really want to destroy the village in order to save it? I’d love for someone to refute the claims in the article if they’re untrue. I’m specifically wondering whether Nader really did originally pledge not to campaign in states where he would hurt Gore’s chances of getting electoral votes.

Edd Dumbill on the Semantic Web. One of the items on my to do list is making this a semantic website, but I haven’t made much progress toward that goal. Hopefully someday.

The latest Ralph Nader ad is a parody of the brilliant “When I grow up” ad from Monster.com. I have to say that I’m not very impressed — the ad they parody was already a sendup of corporate America, plus they already parodied an existing ad with their “Priceless” spot (which was great). For some reason, the latest ad just seems uninspired. Salon surveyed ad critics for their impressions of the new ad.

The New York Times editorial page likes the Napster-Bertelsmann Deal.

Does George W. Bush believe in evolution? When asked about George W. Bush on the Jay Leno show last night, Martin Sheen discounted him on the grounds that he lacks intellectual curiosity. That’s exactly the problem I have with Bush, I could just never put it into the right terms. The problem I have with Gore is that he’s a shameless panderer (I’ve never had problems figuring out the words for that one).
