I’ve really been enjoying the stories on NPR’s Morning Edition about the NPR 100, a list of the 100 most important American musical works of the 20th century. Not only are the songs great, but the stories behind them are generally fascinating as well. It’s especially interesting to learn why the songs were so important or influential, since almost all of them just seem like classics to me, and I can’t place them in the context of their contemporaries.
