Certain people are blaming the Internet for the power crisis in California. Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no evidence to back up that assertion, and the people who are doing the blaming are flacks for the energy industry. It’s no surprise that Dubya is spewing their numbers himself in order to convince people that we need to drill just a few more oil wells.

Looks like VA Linux is running into earnings trouble. I have to say, though, that financial analysis aside, I’m impressed at their revenue numbers. That’s a pretty big chunk of revenue for a Linux company.

Radnet, the maker of WebShare, has gone out of business. I used WebShare for a lot of applications at an old job. I thought their tool really was bad, but it’s still a little sad to see them go. The tragedy is that even though their tool was a big mess, it wasn’t far from being pretty cool. They just made some design decisions that were killers.

Bill Coleman,the chairman of BEA Systems, is donating one Alex Rodriguez to the University of Colorado to support research on cognitive disabilities. It’s the largest donation ever to a public university, and over a third of Coleman’s net wealth.

Allaire and Macromedia are merging.

Salon has an intersting article on urban exploration. It’s worth reading just for the links to cool sites where people chronicle their adventures in off-limits urban spaces.

Remember the good old days of the vast right wing conspiracy? Check out this list of currently pending cases filed by Larry Klayman’s “nonpartisan” organization Judicial Watch. It’s amazing that you can create a nonprofit organization to harass the sitting president and accept tax deductible donations as funding. That’s got to be the scam of the century.

Reading this job posting, one wonders whether eFashionShow.com is a front for the DIA or something.
