Hilary Rosen has stepped down as chairman and CEO of RIAA. I’d like to think it’s because of her wrongheaded obsession with getting rid of file sharing, but it’s probably just because the recording industry has been really suffering financially. I have to believe that one big reason their business is doing so poorly is that they have failed to come up with creative ways to make money on the Internet. Clearly millions of people have figured out that it’s easy to distribute music over the Internet, and the recording industry has done nothing but put an end to it.
