The numbers being repeatedly cited over the past week about the number of former Guantanamo detainees who have “returned to the battlefield” are, in all likelihood, total speculation. It’s propaganda. Don’t believe it.

Most of the detainees were simple goat farmers or travelers who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and were sold by our “allies” to make a quick buck. How can they “return” when they were never part of the so-called “battle” to begin with?

What’s intriguing are the detainees who arrived at Gitmo as a mistake, and left radicalized. Someone was winning the hearts and minds…
Assuming Gitmo detainees are returning to the battlefield, the general tone of the response seems one of, “Well, that pinko crypto-Muslim in the White House shouldn’t have been releasing any of them,” and that easily (deliberately?) misses some critical backstory.
