Node.js is a cancer. Or it isn’t. On a general note, I am not a fan of polemics like the one at the former link.
Alabama’s draconian new anti-immigrant law goes into effect.
I have to admit that I have very little empathy for CEOs with a persecution complex.

It helps if you know that Ted’s a troll; he’s been doing this kind of shit forever. I think he’s an interesting one, so I keep in him in blogroll. That said, dinging something because “it’s written in Javascript” is weak sauce.
I have to admit that I’ve never “gotten” why I should ever care about node.js. That doesn’t mean it’s without merit, it’s just that I can’t see how it will solve any problem I care about solving at the moment.

I’ve never understood haters. They always hating on something. If someone wants to use node.js, let them. If they don’t, great! To be honest, the more and varied tools that are out there the more likely it is that one of them will solve my problem and the less likely I am to find it (due to the multitude of tools out there) 🙂
As for the AL law, aren’t many farmers in GA up the creek without anyone to pick their produce right now? I’ve never understood the anti-immigrant hate. If we want cheap food, we need cheap labor. Either man up and pay more for your produce or deal with migrant labor (that is often illegal). I also look at it as a bonus in that all this immigration can help those in my generation fight off the baby boom demographic tsunami that is about to hit hard. Of course, I’d like to see the problem solved by making immigration for migrant workers easier so that they aren’t illegal…but that’s just me. Heck, what’s un-American about working hard and making a better life for your family?

Regarding node.js, the 2nd link you posted misses the point of the original node.js rant. the author of the first post is intentionally choosing a slow algorithm.
