Molly Ivins writes about Monsanto’s latest nightmarish creation in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The latest scheme cooked up by the terminally irresponsible folks at Monsanto is The Terminator, a genetic technology which will prevent the seeds of crops from being able to germinate, thus ensuring that farmers will have to buy new seeds (from Monsanto) every growing season. Unfortunately, this new genetic technology could lay waste to everything growing near it as well.

Wired News reports on the Wal-Mart suit against Amazon.com. The suit was tossed out in Arkansas, and has been refiled in Seattle. To me, this is a great example of inter-industry culture clash. Hiring away expertise from other companies and then using it against them is a well-established practice in the computer industry (just ask Borland … err … Inprise about all their former employees working at Microsoft), I guess it’s not expected in retail.
