The Apache Software Foundation is widening its diversification by branching out into XML tools. They’ve launched a new site at xml.apache.org. The first projects will provide XML parsers, stylesheet processors, XML-based Web publishing, and XML formatting objects. We desperately need well supported reference implementations of this stuff, so I think this is a very worthy effort.


The lawyers for the movie industry are trying to stuff the DVD crack genie back into its bottle. Too late, guys. You can’t un-crack the current DVD format.


Will these guys ever learn? I find it sad that the same week the findings of fact came down in the Microsoft case, there are reports that Intel, the other half of the evil Wintel duopoly, is bullying Asus to stop making motherboards that use AMD’s Athlon chip.


In the spirit of cheap computing evangelist Robin Miller, some British guys have proven how much performance you can get out of an overclocked 486sx/25. Even if you don’t care about overclocking archaic processors, the article is pretty hilarious. The photos accompanying the article alone are worth the price of admission.


Because American kids have such brief attention spans and aren’t smart enough to solve its puzzles in less than 10 minutes, Tomb Raider IV is being dumbed down for the US market. I’m so proud.
