The Economist’s economics column this week covers the widely debated estate tax changes that are coming down the pike in America. Republicans in Congress are, as part of their ongoing program to help out people with lots of money, trying to repeal the tax since it applies only to the rich. Naturally, they’ve come up with a feel good argument for doing so, and of course it doesn’t hold water. Anyway, I agree with the Economist that lowering the tax makes a lot more sense than just getting rid of it.
