For computer industry news blurbs with an education-oriented slant, try Edupage. I also just found out today that the editors (or perhaps former editors) of Edupage publish a daily newsletter called NewsScan, which I have not yet read. My favorite feature from Edupage is Honorary Subscriber, a brief bio of an interesting person provided with every issue. It looks like Honorary Subscriber has made it into NewsScan as well.

Business Week Online springs to the defense of Mozilla.

IDC’s report, Strategies for Windows NT in the Enterprise, sets the record straight with regard to Windows NT adoption, and takes the computer industry press to task for buying into Microsoft’s marketing hype. (The report costs 795 bucks, so for most of us, the abstract will have to do.)

Best Buy has stopped ordering iMacs because they don’t want to sell all five flavors, according to this San Francisco Chronicle article.

Geeks will appreciate: Linux Development Tools.

osOpinion has a short and nearly worthless article about FreeBSD. Even so, it’s nice to see FreeBSD get some press.

The Microsoft earnings beat goes on.

Mozilla posted some information about an open source instant messaging product, but then pulled it back. Could this be AOL pulling on the reins? They have their own instant messaging products (ICQ and AIM) to protect.
