It occurred to me today that the French Presidential election between Jean-Marie Le Pen and Jacques Chirac echoes the 1991 Louisiana gubernatorial race, which pitted well-known crook Edwin Edwards against well-known racist David Duke. Perhaps Louisianians can send the French all of their left over “Vote for the crook — it’s important” bumper stickers. Hey, look, the Houston Chronicle ran a column that says the very same thing yesterday. I promise I came up with this idea on my own first.
