Did you know that Hurricane Katrina struck before New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin had a chance to distribute hurricane preparedness DVDs to New Orleans’ low income population that would have let them know in advance that in the event of an evacuation, they would be left to their own devices? This is not a man due much respect.

Is it just me, or does DVD not seem to be the optimal distribution medium for this demographic. The post certainly tells of many more damning things though…

I did get a laugh out of that bit. Not sure what percentage of people who don’t have the means to evacuate in the event of a natural disaster have a DVD player.

virtually all of them had dvd players…..seriously. they’re not super expensive anymore, and they are considered a “necessity” amongst those with little else in their lives…..

How can you people even begin to think this way? It blows my mind that you actually think it is one person’s fault. Our local and state officials ordered mandatory evacuations. Those that stayed did so out of ignorance, age and lack of money. I can’t believe there are people in this world that still sound like you…sooooo closed minded and labling people. What do you know? Are you so poor you don’t have much else in your life besides your family or your one bedroom apartment? Are you so old that you don’t want to chance dying in the 15 hour traffic? Are you a native that has lived through 15 other hurricanes and never seen flood waters and therefore are ignorant of what might happen? Who are you people and why don’t you open your eyes to the world of poverty and neglect….yes, I said neglect. People like you live in a rosy world and ignore the poverty and ignorance in the real world. I hope one day you see the world for what it is…filled with every bit of life….all ages, races, classes, ethnicities and intelligencies.

native new orleanian: I don’t think you are making any sense. Please try a little less inflammatory rethoric and a little more arguments next time you post.
