Brilliant. In fact, that’s just what I was looking for to finish off my redesign, which currently has no navigation whatsoever. I kind of hit a wall by making the main part of the content area too wide to accomodate the “side column” approach, and that’s been done way too much anyways.
For years I have been doing this. The idea came from an SEO forum. If each page has a link from every page on your website, it instantly has many inboubd links. Google doesn’t consider this as spam. Plus, there is the great usability bonus to the readers.
