I don’t think they “think” anything about it, it’s just satisfying for them.
Same people that thought if they came up with a good enough insult for France it would start making the Iraq war a good idea. They just need something to attack. It doesn’t matter what. And in a couple months they’ll get bored with it and move on to something else.
It’s deeply disturbing seeing so many people around the office spout anti-science to such a prepared drumbeat. The only thing you can do is confidently stand up this nonsense, one person at a time. It’s moral cowardice not to.
