Acetaminophen is probabably too dangerous to be available over the counter. But the entire article is a straw man. These drugs were in use at time when there were no other alternatives and have saved countless lives.
Now the bar for approval is set higher because there are so many drugs that have been proven safe and effective. Of course our standards for approving drugs will change as more drugs become available.
