Strong opinions, weakly held

eMusic is still growing

eMusic now has over 300,000 subscribers, and is the second largest online music service, after the iTunes Music Store. Aside from the occasional CD purchase, it has become my sole source of new music. When I first subscribed, I wondered how much music the site offers that I’d really want, but I never have a problem finding 40 tracks I want to download each month.

  1. I knew they must be doing well when they jacked up their UK prices by about 25% for new users.

  2. Quick bleg: Is it possible to download from eMusic without installing their download manager?

  3. I have no idea. I doubt that they allow it, though, because I imagine it handles authentication and accounting for which files you’re allowed to download.
